Standard School Dance Package — Middle School & Small Dance DJ in Sacramento

The Standard School Package is built for middle school dances, smaller high school events, family fun nights, and any school event with up to 200 students. Three hours of professional DJ + MC service, a sound system sized appropriately for the room, basic dance lighting, and a music library played exclusively in radio-edit (clean) format. Fingerprinted and EGUSD-registered.

Same DJ (me), same standards, same 25 years of experience as the Premium/Prom package — just sized for smaller events.

What's included in the Standard School Package

  • Premium sound system sized for up to 200 students

  • Basic colored dance lighting to set the mood for the dance floor

  • Wireless handheld microphone for announcements, contests, and shout-outs

  • Setup and breakdown — I arrive early, leave clean

  • Experienced DJ and polished MC — me, start to finish

  • Custom music programming with your do-not-play list built in

  • Radio-edit (clean) music only — no explicit versions, ever

  • Client planning portal for your ASB advisor or administrator

  • Two planning meetings to walk through your event needs

  • Up to three hours of service

  • 50 miles of travel included

  • Fingerprinted and EGUSD-registered — Live Scan complete, approved campus vendor

Who should book the Standard School Package?

This package is the right fit if any of these apply to your event:

  • Middle school dances — 6th, 7th, and 8th grade dances and socials

  • Smaller high school dances — winter formals, Sadie Hawkins, club events, or any dance under 200 students

  • Family fun nights — elementary school events where the DJ runs both music and interactive games

  • Spirit rallies and assemblies — pep rallies, school spirit events, or assembly entertainment

  • End-of-year and back-to-school dances — smaller-scale celebrations with shorter run times

  • Walk-a-thons, Jog-a-thons, and outdoor school events — music for fundraisers and athletic events

If your event is a prom, homecoming, or a dance over 200 students, the Premium/Prom Package is sized for that.

What a Standard school dance actually looks like

Here's how a typical Standard event plays out:

Before the dance: Two planning meetings with your ASB advisor or administrator. You submit your do-not-play list. We coordinate timing, contests, special announcements, and the music vibe. I confirm the venue setup, power needs, and end time.

Setup: I arrive early — typically 60 to 90 minutes before doors open. Sound check happens before any students are in the room. Lighting is set up to match the venue (gym, cafeteria, MPR, outdoor space). Volume is set to administrator-approved levels.

The dance: Music starts on cue. Energy builds with the room. I'm on the mic for any announcements, contests, or shout-outs you've requested. I'm watching the floor and adjusting the playlist based on what's actually working — not running a pre-built setlist that ignores the room.

End of the dance: Final song. Lights up. Breakdown happens quickly so chaperones aren't waiting on me. I'm out clean.

Why "Standard" doesn't mean "basic"

A common assumption with three-tier package pricing is that the Standard package is a stripped-down version of the better ones. That's not how my packages work.

The Standard package uses the same professional equipment, the same DJ (me), the same music library, and the same 25 years of experience as the Premium/Prom package. The dance floor at a Standard event doesn't sound different, look different, or feel different than the dance floor at a Premium event.

What's different is how many students the package is sized for and how long the event runs. A middle school dance for 150 kids doesn't need a Premium sound system designed for 400. Paying for capacity you don't need doesn't make the dance better — it just makes your invoice bigger.

What's NOT included in the Standard Package

  • Larger sound system. The Standard sound system is sized for up to 200 students. For larger dances (proms, homecomings, big winter formals), the Premium/Prom package uses a larger system designed for up to 400 students.

  • Advanced programmed DMX lighting. Standard includes basic colored dance lighting. Premium/Prom adds advanced club-style DMX lighting synced to the music.

  • Extended hours. Standard is up to 3 hours of service. Premium/Prom is up to 4 hours.

  • Photobooth. Available as an add-on. See below.

Add a photobooth

The photobooth is the most-requested school dance add-on. It gives students something to do besides the dance floor, generates content they share immediately, and creates a memory they keep.

Available as an add-on to the Standard package — see the photobooth page for full details.

What you're actually paying for:

The Standard School Package isn't three hours of music for 200 teenagers. You're paying for the planning that makes those three hours run smoothly, the experience to handle a 7th-grade dance differently than a senior event, and the professionalism to be the kind of vendor your administration is comfortable having on campus.

Before the dance, I've already coordinated with your ASB advisor on the playlist, reviewed your do-not-play list, confirmed the venue layout, and tested every piece of equipment going on the truck. On the night of, I'm reading the room, running the energy, managing announcements, and watching the floor — not just hitting play.

The reason school administrators keep rebooking me isn't the music. It's that the dance just worked — and they didn't have to manage me to make it work.

Standard School Package questions, answered

What ages and grades is the Standard package built for?

The Standard package works for any school event up to 200 students. That includes middle school dances (6th, 7th, 8th grade), smaller high school events, family fun nights at elementary schools, spirit rallies, and graduation parties. The music selection and MC style are tailored to the age group of the event.

How many hours of service is included?

Up to three hours of active DJ service. Setup and breakdown happen outside of that three-hour window — I arrive 60–90 minutes early and break down after the dance ends. If your event needs more than three hours of music, the Premium/Prom package includes up to four hours.

Are you background-checked or fingerprinted?

Yes. I'm fingerprinted and registered with Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) — Live Scan complete, on file as an approved campus vendor. For schools in other Sacramento-area districts, I can complete the same vendor approval process with your district.

Do you play explicit songs at school events?

No. Every song I play at a school event is the radio-edit (clean) version. My music library is actively maintained — when a new Top 40 hit drops, I add the clean version, not the explicit version. If you have specific songs or genres on a do-not-play list, I follow it.

How do I know if the Standard package is the right size for my event?

The Standard package is sized for events with up to 200 students. If your dance is expecting more than 200 students, or if it's a prom/homecoming/winter formal at a larger high school, the Premium/Prom package is built for that. If you're unsure, send me your expected student count and I'll let you know which package fits.

Can I customize the Standard package?

Yes. If you need a different set of hours, an additional sound zone, specific lighting, or a custom music focus, reach out and I'll build a custom quote. The Standard package is the base — anything beyond it can be added on.

Where in Central California do you serve?

Sacramento, Elk Grove, Folsom, Roseville, Rocklin, Citrus Heights, Rancho Cordova, El Dorado Hills, Davis, Lodi, Stockton, Natomas, and surrounding regions. The Standard package includes 50 miles of travel; events further out can be quoted with additional travel.
